This scale is great for the price. I placed a 25lb weight on it and it was only off by 0.2lbs. I was also curious so I weighed myself, then grabbed a 1lb role of sausage and it perfectly increased by 1lb. It’s also consistent. You don’t have to weigh yourself multiple times to get an accurate reading. Step on once and your done. Great product!

Before I was diagnosed with M.S. in 1977 I was an all around athlete. I pitched a mean fast ball in softball, was a rover in basketball (girl’s); played tennis at least once a week and bowled for fun. Well, now I can do the sports I loved thanks to my wii. I am now healthier and happier. Can’t wait to buy more games.
The other cool thing? I can watch instant play Netflix movies on my T.V. Woo Hoo!

What to Eat When
I’m from the north, but I would visit my kinfolk “Down South” in the Jackson area once every three years in the 50s and 60s. I could never understand what was going on with the black people being so, well, different. Wow. This book explained a part of our history like I’ve never understood it before. Thank you, Kathryn, for answering all the questions I didn’t even know enough to ask. What a riveting, sensitive book.

The Defender is a great product and offers a much higher level of protection than any other case I’ve seen, but it’s not foolproof. I have probably dropped my iphone about 20 times since got it in Nov. However, on Christmas eve I had it laying in my lap and stood up. My iphone dropped to the tile floor and when I picked it up the LCD screen was white with blue and red lines running the length of the screen on the right side. I took it to a repair shop and had to have the screen replaced. I too have the oil slick issue but its not a big deal to me. The biggest problem is the reason that I have dropped it so much is that every time I have it in the belt clip and happen to bump the belt clip even with my arm or hand the phone will fall out of the clip. Since the screen replacement and the belt clip issue I just carry it in my pocket. I work construction and have pretty much ruined or broken every phone I’ve had, but thought that this case would maybe help this one survive. Sorry folks but the jury is still out.
Where the Locals Eat
What more can I say? The book is about women and food and women talking about life while they cook — and turning out great food! It will make you remember those nights in high school you ate raw chocolate-chip cookie dough (couldn’t wait for the cookies) cuz you didn’t have a date. It will also make you remember your mom’s cooking –whether or not you loved or hated it!

Simple Principles to Eat
I bought this in June 2009 for my wife’s camera. It was OK for about 6 months, than crushed once. We lost a lot of pictures and movies of our family. I was able to reformat card and it work for another 2-3 months until it died completely. These time no luck, we lost all of our pictures that we had on this card. I’m very disappointed with reliability of this product.
Eat Well and Stay
This week’s book is Artemis Fowl, which I loved. Artemis Fowl is a twelve year old genius criminal mastermind (awesome) who kidnaps a fairy and holds her hostage to extort fairy gold (more awesome) from the hidden kingdom of magical creatures. Eoin Colfer approaches this material in a way that is fresh, exciting, and not the least bit patronizing so that adults will be able to enjoy this book as much as their children.
Artemis is a welcome change from the standard unlucky but scrappy hero (whose parents are probably dead) who means well and is genuinely courageous that populates most MG series. Artemis Fowl doesn’t mean well for anyone but himself and his mother. He is relentlessly cold in his assessment of people and situations and he even poisons a fairy (don’t worry, this is MG and the fairy comes out okay, but still…). Artemis doesn’t kill anyone, but murder is never an impossibility for him (in fact, he threatens nearly everyone he meets) and that keeps the character fresh and interesting.
Also fun are Colfer’s amusing pairings of traditional magic with modern technology so that the fairies are part standard magical creature, part Men In Black. Various characters have guns, ninja skills, bombs, and the ability to eat through nearly anything. The whole affair reads like a big budget summer movie and that’s a compliment. I love summer movies and I loved Artemis Fowl.
Of special note to writers: witness how Colfer easily navigates through multiple third person fixed perspectives. His narrative is never restricted to just one character, which is a break from the norm in MG fiction and admirable. Although Artemis Fowl is unquestionably the main character, he isn’t always the current protagonist in the text. Colfer more often writes from the perspective of various fairies and even a dwarf, each with their own goal and story to tell. And the novel is all the richer for it.

I had some problems installing this, had to be done twice. I wish it would integrate or replace my Microsoft Office 2003 but instead I seem to have both on my computer so when I open an old document, it’s opened with ‘03 and sometimes I accidentally open the old Word. I wish I just had ONE Word so things didn’t get confused like this. Could be doing something wrong, but it should be easier than this, it’s not like I never use computers, I’ve been using Microsoft and Word for at least 15 years.
Other than that, I didn’t like the tool bar change from 2003 to 2007 that took a lot of getting used to and still have to spend some effort finding somethings. With use, as with everything, it gets easier. And all in all it is fine, it’s not like I would go back to only using 2003.
