I’ve had my Kindle for about 3 months now and could not be happier! I was very hesitant to purchase an e-reader because I love my paper books. Actually, when these devices first came out, I could not believe people would actually buy these things! Well, I decided to give it a try because we recently moved into a very small apartment and did not have room for the TONS of books I have (I love to read!). I did a lot of looking around before deciding on the Kindle. I really could not be happier with the Kindle, and I don’t miss my paper books like I thought I would. It’s perfect because it holds up to 1500 books and I can download books at home using my WiFi or when I’m out and about I can still download books because of the 3G network. Having 3G capability on this is awesome and it’s FREE! I like the fact that the screen looks just like a page in a regular book, and after reading for a few minutes you really don’t notice that you are reading from an electronic device instead of a real book. I love older books and I am so glad that I don’t have to just use Amazon to purchase/download books. I love the fact that I can go to my favorite website (manybooks.net) for my free classic books and download straight to my Kindle no matter where I am. I also like that the print is in black and white. I know some other e-readers come in color, but to me this would be too distracting. I know I didn’t want a touch screen either because clicking a button is so much easier instead of swiping your finger across the screen to turn the page. I used to read on my IPOD Touch and since I’m a fast reader, it’s a little annoying to have to do this for every page turn, even on a bigger screen of an e-reader. I also like the design of the Kindle, and where the placement is on each side of the device where you can turn the page with either hand. I didn’t think I would use this feature at first, but if you are a snacker like me, you will appreciate being able to turn the page with e

This book is a tool of Satan. The author claims that it was inspired by God, which is nonsense because most of it is in direct conflict with what God has revealed in His Word, the Bible. There is only one “version” of Christianity and that is found in the Bible. If you are interested in what God thinks, I would suggest reading the Bible, it is full of God’s thoughts. If you are interested in reading books about the Bible, based on the Bible, I would suggest, for starters, “What Jesus Demands from the World” by John Piper. Please don’t waste your time on any of Mr. Walsch’s books. Burn them! – they are too dangerous to throw in the trash.

As a child of the 50’s and 60’s, I remember the Jim Crow laws well. Like Skeeter, I had two wonderful maids who I adored. My mother treated them with respect. I was not taught to hate different races. I was so sheltered in fact, that in later years, I was shocked to realize such things occurred. I remember “colored” public restrooms, a segregated balcony for “coloreds” in the theaters in downtown Atlanta, and “colored” drinking fountains. This book was wonderful and the author is commended for bringing back both good and bad memories of those times. The best book I have read in a long time. I could hardly put it down.

I’ve been following the kindle forum for a while, eagerly awaiting the arrival of Kindle 3. Good news! It appeared to rave reviews and I ordered one at $139 to be sent to France. I let myself be tempted by a lighted leather cover as well, price $59.99, grand order total…. $281.77. No, nothing wrong with the math, just that the total for non-US residents includes $22.03 shipping plus $97.11 import fees deposit. Gulp. But OK, there was no alternative and I desperately wanted my Kindle…Fortunately (as it turns out) the Kindle wasn’t immediately available, so Amazon said they’d ship it separately specifying that I wouldn’t have to pay two shipping fees. Then a message was sent infoming me that the leather cover had been shipped. Did I read the message carefully? No. How silly am I? Very. It is only today, with delivery of the cover that I find out exactly how much this little jewel has cost me. The delivery man demanded 11 euros, I then rechecked the message from Amazon carefully only to find that I had already paid….$86.29 import fees deposit! So the red leather cover alone has cost me a total of $159.76 plus 11 euros instead of the $59 paid by customers in the US, and more expensive than the coveted Kindle 3 itself! As I had just got a message from Amazon UK saying that Kindle 3 was now available in the UK I immediately cancelled the order with Amazon.com US, fearing that the original price tag of $139 would shoot up to goodness knows how much.
Meanwhile anyone wanting to buy a priceless red leather cover with reading light (currently locked in the safe) please get in touch. By the way, I was obliged to give a star rating, so opted for one because of the price, but the cover itself is indeed lovely and under other circustances would have had maximum stars. So – the moral of the message – international buyers please check exactly how much your Kindle products are going to cost you in the end before committing to any purchases. Unfortunately The UK does not ship

We bought this for a 12 year old boy who has never had a Ipod or Itouch. He loves it! Easy to use, figure out, good parental controls. Lots of free apps.

My nephew was performing poorly in the fifth grade last year and I promised him that if he would get motivated and pull his grades up, I would buy him an Apple iPod. The motivation worked and he got the iPod in time to accustom himself to its many applications before school began this year. The serendipital finding was worth the purchase: He kept bringing up the piano keys and suddenly began asking if he could take piano lessons. It was the answer to his mother’s dream, and now he is in regular piano classes and loving them. Thanks Apple!

I loved the way the book was written, with chapters assigned back and forth between characters, and written in the style of that character. It really brings the book to life. There are better reviews than mine, just wanted to add another 5-star review. Highly recommended!

I’ve only had my scale and food scale for a couple of weeks, but they worked great right out of the box. I’m not thrilled with the numbers I see on them now, but hopefully they will help me to reach my weight loss goals. My two kids (3 and 5) have played with both scales and they have held up! Any product that can take that has my vote!!! :)
