There are always those women out there in tne club or whatever with a sense of entitlement, not getting to the fact that all are equal, should be appreciated no matter what economic, social, historical background. Even tho this novel deals with the black help in the South during the time period, it can be applied today and involving all races and colors.
Discrimination is wrong, unfair, hurtful in ways beyond.
While I enjoyed the book, I could not really believe the Miss Skeeter character, her motivation in writing the book. At times her genuineness was skewed. I disliked so many of the ladies in the club and saw thru them so much that I did not care what they said and did.
There are outstanding moments in the book with great insights, Miss Skeeter’s relationship with her Mother, Aibileen and Minny’s fates.
My heart goes out to the real black ladies of The Help everywhere. No one can adequately address those times and the aftermath.
Believe the book is worth the read but I could not understand the hype. Miss Skeeter’s growth is admirable but one still looks at what is left behind. Should ‘The Help’ be indebted to a revelation that is still causing strife or should ‘The Help’ be able to stand proud and understand and know they deserve respect…and no longer continue to fight for what is rightfully theirs?

people complain that the characters are thin. Maybe so, but the story is rich. rich in history, rich in emotions rich in the real life of old time traveling circus. I lived on the ringling train in the 70’s. As I read the story I felt transported back to the life. If you want to experience the life, read it. Not for everybody but everything for some. Drama

This 8GB card works great in our Panasonic Lumix ZS3 digital camera. Fast, large capacity for photos and videos. Works great in a USB card reader for SDHC cards — super-fast transfer rates (as long as your card reader is fast as well, of course). You just have to make sure that when you insert the card, you don’t inadvertently slide the little lever into the “lock” position. But that’s easy if you’re paying attention at all. A great card for a great price. Highly recommended.

I am not a big reader of books. If a book doesn’t capture my interest within the first 3 pages, I put it aside…never to be opened again. A friend of mine purchased the first book for me at Christmas. Although I thanked her for the gift, I scoffed inside thinking to myself, “who wants to read a book about vampires? -silly.” Well, I went on a trip to California and wanted to bring something along to read on the plane, so I took the Twilight book. I ended up reading the entire thing and couldn’t wait to get back home to order the next one. Before I finished the 2nd book, I ordered books 3 and 4. I felt as though I knew the characters personally! The entire series is awesome and you find yourself not wanting to put them down because you have no preconceived guess on what’s going to happen next. Highly recommended.

I recently started running to keep in shape. There is a park near-by my appartement, so I decided I would buy one of these to keep track of my steps, calorie burn and distance.
This item seems to keep pretty accurate track of steps and distance. I used mapmyrun.com to measure how much distance I would run by jogging the perimeter of the park. It told me it would be 2.3 miles. I put in my stride length as per the instructions and went off and ran around the park. When I was done the Omron told me I had gone 2.15 miles. That’s pretty close! Well over 4,000 steps to do it.
So as far as accuracy is concerned, as long as you correctly enter your stride length the Omron will be pretty close.
Every time since I have used it on the same path I get consistent results.
It has nice features as well with the clock and daily tracker history for 7 days.
As long as I dont loose it, it seems like it will work well for a while. (It comes with a clip that sometimes has popped off my belt, but there is also a ’safety string clip’ you can attach)
And it was cheap!
